Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn, from Lord of the Rings.
Actually, I have no better title for this... I thought only “Aragorn” would be more appropriate since Arwen’s head is slightly shown up and her hand does not have a big deal either. But if you think it’d be better putting her credits there too or other suggestion, let me know.
It’s the first serious drawing about LOTR that I’ve ever made. I wanted to do something meaningful for me, so I took so long to get courage enough to make it possible. I’ve seen many beautiful drawings about this subject on DA and they are all flawless, so I thought it would be better if I could bring up something new. I found this picture some months ago… and thought it’d be a nice attempt, but Arwen’s head made me think too much if it could work as a pencil drawing…then I dropped it for a while. It’s still annoying me. I loved it all and I am SO satisfied with the result because it was hard to do all the shadows and lights, but don’t know yet if it was a good choice. The fact that the original drawing looks so much better than the scanned version may be one of the reasons that I am a little insecure about it. But still… hope you like it!
Aragorn is my favorite character, but not because of his handsomeness but his personality! He's a king who doesn’t want to be hailed by this status; Is humble enough to help people against wars and protect places by other names avoiding a so-called myth. He is so down-to-earth! This picture is special because it shows how Aragorn is a normal human who loves, fears and wants to be cared too! He's between his love and his fate/past. Strong but weak at the same time. It's such an amazing moment.
For a quick note, my nickname is inspired by him too. “Estel” was Aragorn’s name until his twenties, when it was revealed that he was the last one of the kin and the future king of Gondor. “Estel” means “hope” in Elvish. It is something that I carry deep down inside my heart. (=
I want to draw more things from LOTR, but I have no idea about what or who. Could somebody help me? I'd be glad.
